Kathryn deVries Sells The Vital Invitation to Kathy Tobin and Reloads for 2017

With the new year often comes exciting new teams.  Amateur, Kathryn deVries Mitchell of Vacaville, California has exciting news heading into 2017. Mitchell sold her beloved gelding, The Vital Invitation to Kathy Tobin of Scottsdale, Arizona and purchased a new horse, Good Money Machine (Molly), out of the multiple AQHA World Champion mare, Huntin For Money.

“I wanted a really cool mare to do the western all-around,” Kathryn told us. “We had already been looking for a while when I saw this stunning gray mare walk into the warm up at the AQHA World Show. I didn’t know anything about her but I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Luckily, she was there with Highpoint Performance Horses to be sold and we made it happen.”

Charlie Cole adds, “I’m very happy that Good Money Machine went to Kathryn and Kellie Hinely. Molly has the look, movement and talent to be a great horse. I had hoped to keep her in my barn and continue training her, but I just didn’t have the right owner to buy her. I wish them much success!”

“I’m so excited, she is beautiful and sweet, and I really think she is going to be a great fit. She did well in the futurities her three-year-old year, winning the Reichert, etc. I can’t wait for Kellie Hinely (her trainer) to add more events on her and get to show her.” (Kathryn pictured right with Good Money Machine and her two young children.)

Buying Good Money Machine meant selling The Vital Invitation. “Elvis” is by legendary Invitation Only and out of the incomparable Vital Signs Are Good. Elvis has had several Top 10 placings at the Congress and AQHA and NSBA World Show in the western riding. Selling The Vital Invitation (Elvis) came as a surprise to most.

“What?!? That’s what everyone says when we tell people we sold Elvis,” Mitchell revealed. “He is completely a once-in-a-lifetime horse and amazing in all aspects. I honestly never thought I would sell him, but for over a year, a certain trainer (Deanna Searles) asked at every show when she could have him.”

Kathryn adds, “I knew that hethe vitaal invitation devries would never have a better home than with the Searles and after Kellie and I had a tearful heart to heart about my goals, and how I wanted to expand my involvement in our breeding business, I knew I couldn’t afford to send the two show mares and a gelding to all the circuits.”

Mitchell says there were only a handful of programs where they would let Elvis go. “Deanna was the first and the most persistent, so, she was our first call. He heads to Arizona this week. I’m beyond excited for Kathy Tobin, and I know she and Elvis will be amazing. I can’t wait to cheer them on!”

Kathy Tobin is understandably excited about her new horse.  “I had admired Elvis for years, and he wasn’t for sale until this past AQHA World Show, so we had to try him out. It seemed like an instant match. It usually takes me awhile to get with a new horse, but it keeps me on my toes. I certainly wish Kathryn the best of luck with her new horse, and thank her for the opportunity to own a such a talented horse and so beautifully bred too.”

We wish both of these lovely ladies the best of luck with their new horses in 2017!
