Austin Arena Specialists: Building Your Dream Equestrian Facility into Reality

You’ve seen, or if you’re lucky, ridden or kept your horse at an equestrian facility that is just perfect; from the layout of the barns to the footing in the arena, you know that much thought and planning was put into the facility. You can just feel the difference between a facility that was designed and created by someone who gets it, and one that was not. These outstanding facilities do not just happen by chance, they are the product of much knowledge and even more planning.

Danny Austin of Austin Arena Specialists truly specializes in everything associated with arenas, barns, round pens and more. The owner, Danny Austin, is the son of a horse trainer and had an early interest in arenas and footing growing up. Located near San Diego, California, today Austin travels all over the country managing and building dream equestrian facilities. He builds jumping, dressage, reining and all-purpose use arenas utilizing sand, along with synthetic fibers and felt specific to your site and discipline.

“I’ve been intrigued with tractors and dirt my whole life. For me, it’s always been not so much about the machinery, but what I could create with it,” Austin told GoHorseShow. “I grew up on a horse ranch surrounded by animals of all kinds and have been operating tractors since I could reach the pedals. Growing up in this environment has given me special insight into the needs and concerns of horse owners. I’ve always understood the importance of minimizing stress to animals. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is creating safe and enjoyable environments for them.”

The horses last longer and stay sound which is very important to me and one of my main focuses of my job. The health and welfare of the horses is one of my main priorities.”

Over the years, Austin has researched to find the latest products, technologies and footings available. This openness to knowledge and new ideas has allowed him to combine his experience and knowledge to build the highest quality facilities.

“I usually consult with a client on the phone and then if we want to proceed, I travel to the site for a complete evaluation of the project. Sometimes, the client has already been through two or three contractors and they haven’t gotten the desired results, so I come in to finish the project. I am a builder so I can develop a project to fit any client’s needs.”
