The Breeders Halter Futurity (BHF) and National Halter Championships (NHC) took place September 8 through the 11th in Des Moines, Iowa where some of the best of the best in the halter industry were competing for money and prizes.
“The BHF is an amazing showcase of quality halter horses and passionate horse owners,” says Tom Walker, who owns the halter gelding, On Secret Agent. “For me winning the grand champion open gelding award was a moment I’ll never forget, and I will always be appreciative to Jeffrey Pait and his team for helping me achieve a bucket list goal with my horse. I want to thank them, the judges, and the show organizers for making my day.”
The show’s payout was over $1.4 million dollars and according to several reports, it was even bigger and better than last year. The most prestigious prizes were reserved for amateurs who bred, raised and exhibited their own horses by stallions from the nominated group. The biggest payout class was the Amateur Senior Weanling Classes with a total payout of $75,000 with first place receiving $15,000.
