The Tennessee Quarter Horse Association’s Dogwood Classic was held June 16th through the 19th in Harriman, Tennessee. The show had nice-sized classes, six sets of points and great judges including: Lori Gingrich, Rebecca Halvorson, Kelly Stone-Skolnik, Chris Jones, John Kunkle, and Manita McKool. The show also offered a special all inclusive $200 fee for novice youth and youth that included a stall and all entries.
“I had a lot of fun at the Dogwood Classic,” says Tina Freeland, who is an amateur and huge supporter of TQHA. “I especially enjoyed showing the Tim Kimura trail patterns and loved that we did different patterns in the ranch classes and one day we had cattle in the pen.”
The weather was hot but the show helped keep everyone cool by offering free water to exhibitors. There was also free pizza on move in day. The TQHA Youth had a silent auction on Friday and Saturday. The classes were good size with many of them being two to four point classes. Circuit champions enjoyed their choice of prizes between two different type of tote bags or a box fan. “I think everyone had a great time showing in Tennessee,” Freeland adds.
