The April 2016 issue of GoMag is our first issue dedicated to the AQHA Level 1 Championships. AQHA upped the ante for Level 1 exhibitors in 2016, adding one more centralized show in Oklahoma City and moving all of the dates to April and the beginning of May.
Level 1 exhibitors now have a choice of three shows spanning from Las Vegas (West), Oklahoma City (Central) and Raleigh (East). The pages of the April issue of GoMag include numerous ads for these up-and-coming teams, in addition to the familiar faces and products you have grown accustomed to seeing in GoMag.

About the Cover
The April cover of GoMag features 16 year-old Kathryn Bunting of Wichita, Kansas. This talented young lady is currently showing her two horses, A New Dimension (pictured on the cover) and Invite Who in the AQHA youth and Level 1 events under the supervision of Barbie Evans.
The partnership of Kathryn and A New Dimension began in fifth grade and the two have grown as a team. In 2015, “Gunner” and Kathryn were an impressive fourth at the AQHYA World Show in showmanship (pictured right). “It was probably the best day of my life,” Kathryn says. The duo also recently received their superior in the showmanship and finished their AQHA Youth Championship.
Also in 2015, as a new challenge, Kathryn purchased Invite Who, to eventually become her new all around horse (pictured below). “Hootie is the sweetest horse. He loves to be a pet; he’ll just hang his head right beside you. Hootie really wants to please, which is nice, whereas Gunner was ready to retire on his first day,” Kathryn laughs.
2016 is a transition year for Kathryn as she is slowly moving from Gunner to Hootie, with the intent of Kathryn’s Grandmother, Jeanne Tiller, to show Gunner in the Select Amateur Showmanship. Hootie and Kathryn will be showing in both western and english all around events, while Gunner and Kathryn will continue to show in the western all around events.
In addition to horses, Kathryn is very active in her school and community. She runs the 200 and 400 meters in track, regularly works out with a personal trainer and is a pointe ballet and jazz dancer. Kathryn was also an American Heart Association Sweetheart this year where her group raised over $55,000 for heart disease research.
Kathryn says, “It can be a real balancing act between my equine pursuits and school. I’m extremely grateful that my school is supportive, and I am also thankful that I get to share this experience with my mom and grandmother. Supporting each other and celebrating our success has strengthened our relationship.”
