VS Code Blue Finds New Home at Pittman Ranch in Florida

The up-and coming sire, VS Code Blue has a new home. Jan Pittman of Pittman Ranch, LLC recently purchased “Peyton” from Donna Biddulph of Oliver, British Columbia. This stallion is royally bred by leading sire, RL Best Of Sudden and out of the legendary mare, Vital Signs Are Good.

Peyton is named after two-time Super Bowl Champion quarterback, Peyton Manning, who made headlines Monday when he announced that he is retiring from the NFL after 18 incredible years in the League.  Pittman’s Peyton is just seven years old and his oldest foals are three years old.

Peyton arrived in Florida last Thursday which happened to be Pittman’s birthday, so it was a perfect present for the talented lady who has developed a name for herself in showing and breeding her top pleasure mare, Ona Good Impulse. The two were AQHA World and Congress Champions and Pittman has gotten some outstanding babies out of her crossed with VS Code Blue, including Ona Good Cowboy owned by Janet Fraser (pictured left below), and Ona Good Kiss owned by Susie Johns (pictured below right).susie johns

When we asked Pittman why she decided to buy Peyton, her answered was short and to the point. “I always wanted him,” Pittman states. “I saw him as a yearling and I completely fell in love with him. I should have bought him then but I always followed him through his career and when the opportunity came to purchase him, I took it.”

Peyton’s cross on Ona Good Impulse which resulted in Ona Good Kiss (pictured here), was purchased by Susie Johns in September, 2014. Ona Good Kiss was the 2015 L2 Junior Western Pleasure Circuit Champions and Three Year-Old Non Pro Champion at the Arizona Sun Circuit with Susie Johns, and in 2014, she was the Two Year-Old Intermediate Open Western Pleasure Champion at the NSBA World Show with Jim Searles.

Pittman said there are several qualities that she likes about Peyton. “He has a lot of lift in his shoulders and he is great hocked. He is also short backed and put together exactly the way I want my horses to look like, plus he is great minded.”

The red roan stallion has his superior in the western pleasure and trail and was the 2011 High Point Stallion in the nation in the Western Pleasure and Trail. Peyton has also placed Top 10 at the AQHA World Show in the Trail and Western Riding, Top 10 at the Congress in the Junior Western Riding and he was 2012 NSBA Reserve World Champions in the Junior Trail. What are the possibilities of Pittman returning to the show pen on Peyton? “I’m very tempted. After breeding season, I would like to take him and see how he looks riding. He is just seven, and it would be nice for him to finish his superior in the western riding.”

His breeding fee is an all inclusive fee of $1500. “That includes everything,” Pittman states. “I know that a lot of times when you find out what the breeding fee is that’s just the beginning. I want people to be able to have a flat fee and be able to breed to a great horse for a reasonable amount.” (pictured right, two yevc code bluear-old colt by VS Code Blue, owned by Susie Johns and in training with Randy Wilson)

Peyton is eligible for the NSBA, AQHA Incentive Fund, and APHA Breeders’ Trust. He is also HYPP N/N, GBED N/N, HERDA N/N, MH N/N, and PSSM1 N/N.
