The Prairie Classic was held this past week at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds. The show is put on by the Kansas Quarter Horse Association and the turnout this year was incredible. There were large numbers in all events, many events having 4 and 5 point classes. Many exhibitors said this was their first show of 2016. The judges for the show included Michael Jung, Kelly McDowall, Pierre Briere, Mike Hoeppner, Jeff Allen, Cindy Hale, and Jennifer Powell.
“The Prairie Classic show in Oklahoma was so much fun!” says Emma Edwards, a youth competitor from Washington who hauls with Nancy Renfro. “The youth class sizes were a good size with slightly more entries on the weekend. I think there was almost 40 in the Youth Horsemanship on Saturday and Sunday. The weather was sunny and chilly but as the facility is mostly inside, it didn’t really effect us.”
Edwards, who has a new teammate, This Is Why Im Here (Jack), adds, “I picked up points in horsemanship, and won the Level 1 and 2 Circuit in the western riding and Level 2 Trail. Nancy picked up a ton of points in Senior Trail with Jack and is all qualified for the AQHA World Show. It was so nice to be able to catch up with my friends and enjoy doing what we love!”
