AQHA Crowns the 2015 World Show All-Around Amateur and Leading Owner

During the last two weeks, the Farnam All-Around Amateur contenders competed in a variety of events at the 2015 Lucas Oil American Quarter Horse Association World Championship Show. This year, 12 contenders qualified to compete for the prestigious title.

The 2015 Farnam All-Around Amateur is Julie Cole of Burlington Flats, New York. Cole showed her American Quarter Horse Size Matters. The 2005 sorrel gelding, who is by Natural Iron and out of Bostons Black Pearl, was bred by Christine Davis of Bainbridge, New York. The pair earned a total of 32 points. They placed third in amateur equitation over fences, fourth in amateur hunter hack and fifth in amateur jumping and amateur hunt seat equitation. Cole and Size Matters received a prize package that included $15,000, plus $1,000 in Farnam products, an original Lisa Perry Bronze, an embroidered WeatherBeeta horse blanket and a rose bouquet.

The 2015 Farnam Reserve All-Around Amateur was Brittany Morgan of Brawley, California. Morgan showed her American Quarter Horse Huntin For Fun. The 2003 chestnut gelding, sired by Huntin For Chocolate and out of Pass The Tee, was bred by Stanley and Susan Scott of Ocala, Florida. The pair earned a total of 15 points. They placed third in amateur trail and 11th in amateur western pleasure.

The Farnam Reserve All-Around Amateur won a prize package that included $5,000, plus $500 in Farnam products and a silver bowl.

Third place was Daniel Carlson of Sheffield, Massachusetts. Carlson showed the American Quarter Horse Are You Charlie, owned by Patricia Carlson of Sheffield, Massachusetts. The 2001 sorrel mare, sired by Dont Skip Charlie and out of Are You Zipped, was bred by Joe and Suzy Jeane of Phoenix. The pair earned 14 points. They placed fourth in showmanship and ninth in amateur performance halter mares.

Fourth place was Jenny Martin of Wells, Texas. Martin showed the American Quarter Horse Dirty Sexy Money, owned by Janet and Kent Martin. The 2007 gray gelding, sired by Sheiks Big Leaguer and out of Fight Over Emmie (TB), was bred by Melissa Ann Miller of Belton, Texas. The pair earned 12.5 points. They placed fourth in amateur pleasure driving and sixth in amateur working hunter.

Fifth place was Scott Allen Reinartz of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Reinartz showed his American Quarter Horse Investin A Goodbar. The 2009 sorrel gelding, sired by Ima Zippo Good Bar and out of Foxy Asset, was bred by Jim Dudley of Columbia, Missouri. The pair earned 10 points. They earned the reserve champion title in amateur pleasure driving.

The third- through fifth-place winners each received a prize package that included $1,500, plus $250 in Farnam products.

AQHA also named the 2015 Oklahoma City Leading Owner and The American Quarter Horse Journal Reserve Leading Owner November 21 at the Lucas Oil World.

vernhabighorstThe Oklahoma City Leading Owner Award is given to the ownership that earns the most points at the Lucas Oil World. To be eligible for the award, at least three horses must be entered and shown. All horses must be in the same single ownership identification, as listed on the official entry form. Points were accumulated and tabulated on all horses shown in both Level 3 and Level 2 classes.

Vernon Habighorst of Phoenix was named the 2015 Oklahoma City Leading Owner. Habighorst’s American Quarter Horses earned a total of 137 points, competing in 22 classes at this year’s show. His top honors include the world championship titles in aged geldings, amateur aged geldings and 3-year-old mares.

The Oklahoma City Leading Owner received a prize package that included a specially commissioned bronze, presented by the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and a bouquet of flowers.

Josh Weakly of Shelbyville, Illinois, was named the 2015 The American Quarter Horse Journall Reserve Leading Owner. Weakly’s American Quarter Horses earned a total of 64 points, competing in 16 classes. His top honors include the world championship titles in aged mares, amateur aged mares, yearling geldings and amateur yearling geldings.

The Reserve Leading Owner received a silver cup, presented by The American Quarter Horse Journal.
