The SmartPak AQHA West Level 1 Championship in Las Vegas is scheduled for September 30 – October 4 at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Because the venue contains barns, arena, restaurants, hotel rooms and entertainment under one roof, it is possible to never leave the building once you arrive. It’s a horse show venue unlike any other. Last year, South Point replaced a covered arena with two new fully enclosed arenas.

Exhibitors at the 2015 SmartPak West AQHA Level 1 Championships prepared for the first day of competition in Las Vegas. Classes began at 8 a.m. at the South Point Equestrian & Events Center with Level 1 youth working hunter.
After the first day of classes are complete, a welcome reception, sponsored by Michael Gaughan’s South Point Hotel & Casino and the South Point Equestrian Center, is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Cinch Bar at the South Point Equestrian Center Main Arena. The SmartPak West offers a variety of events and activities for competitors, friends, family and spectators to take part in throughout the show, including free Ride the Pattern clinics taught by AQHA Professional Horsemen. This year’s championships will also feature added Rookie classes, sponsored by B&W Trailer Hitches, and more age divisions for Level 1 competitors. The SmartPak West and Nutrena East AQHA Level 1 Championships are the pinnacle events for Level 1 competitors around the world who must qualify either nationally or through their state or provincial AQHA affiliates in English, western and halter events.
Due to the increase of Level 1 exhibitors, more divisions will be offered at the 2015 Level 1 Championships. The following divisions will be offered in 2015:
• Amateur
• Select
• 14-18
• 13-&-under
• Rookie youth
• Rookie amateur
Jackpots will again be offered this year at the Level 1 Championships. “We are excited to offer our Level 1 exhibitors a chance to win cash again this year,” said Pete Kyle, AQHA executive director of show and judges. “We hope that the low cost to enter the jackpot and the number of payout placings will encourage exhibitors to participate in this great opportunity for prize money.”
