GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Dr. Dena Jackson of Brookhaven, Mississippi on the purchase of Moneys Moxie. The 2007 bay mare by Iron Enterprise was purchased by Jackson at this year’s Congress. This talented mare was largely known as one of the horses sold online during the Rita Crundwell sale held in September of 2012.
Under the supervision of Keith Miller and owned by the Wilhelm Family, Moxie went on to win many accolades the past several years including top three in the Senior Hunter Under Saddle at the AQHA World Show, multiple NSBA World Championships and multiple Top 10s in the hunter under saddle at the Congress.
Under Crundwell’s ownership, she was a multiple NSBA World Champion, three-time Congress Champion and seven-time Congress Reserve Champion, as well as AQHA World Reserve World Champion in the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle.
Select Amateur Dena Jackson states that she hopes she can live up to the mare’s reputation and do her justice in the arena. “I’m so excited that I had the opportunity to buy her,” Dena told GoHorseShow.
Dena’s trainer, Joni Naas along with Brent Specht of Bay Minette, Alabama, told us that Moxie has always been one of her favorite hunter under saddle horses. “Brent and I just wanted to say thank you to Keith Miller for allowing us to purchase Moxie. She will have a great home and be loved here,” Joni says. “The opportunity to ride her for a customer is unreal. Mrs. Dena is truly a very lucky lady and deserves to have a great horse she can show anywhere she wants.”
Jackson is an Internal Medicine doctor in Mississippi and she hopes to make her debut with Moxie at the Gold and Gulf Coast Circuits in Florida. “I just clicked with her the first time I rode her. She did everything I asked, and she is such a kind and sweet mare. I know that Keith Miller wanted to make sure she went to a good home, and I’m so happy that it all worked out. She is so pretty and I watched the video after I rode her at the Congress and that’s when I knew I had to have her.”
Jackson adds, “Due to my work schedule, I’m not able to ride that often so I wanted to find a horse that was easy. I want to relax and have fun at the shows and have a horse that I easily get along with and she seems to fit the bill.”
Dena’s future goals are to qualify her for the Select World and show her at the Congress in the hunter under saddle and performance halter mares. She might also try equitation in the near future. “I just love the hunter under saddle because the horses look so elegant. I can’t wait to ride her again soon. We also may do some embryo transfers on her. I know that she already has some babies on the ground.”
We would like to congratulate Dena on her purchase and we look forward to watching them next year at the major shows.
