Crimestoppers Reward Offered for Stolen AQHA World Trophies

Amarillo Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of suspects who they say stole dozens of valuable trophies.

Last week, police say someone stole ten bronze plated, ten silver plated and ten gold plated trophies.

The trophies were from the American Quarter Horse Association and were to be awarded to the upcoming Adequan Select Show.

Prior to being stolen, the trophies were kept in the storage area inside the Amarillo National Center at the Tri-State Fairgrounds.

All together, police say the trophies were worth thousands of dollars.

GoHorseShow spoke with Alex Ross, AQHA Senior Director of Judges and Stewards, who told us that the manner in which the trophies were stolen at the AQHA Select World Show is currently under investigation. “AQHA and the Amarillo State Fairgrounds are taking the needed precautions to address these situations at future shows,” Ross stated. Fortunately, AQHA was able to produce additional trophies that were given at this year’s Select World.  “Awards Recognition Concepts (ARC), a branch of AQHA, makes the trophies in Amarillo. After the theft, these employees made the extra trophies to award at the show.”

Anyone with information on the possible suspect or suspects behind this theft are urged to contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400.
