Hi! My name is Dr. Candice Hall, and I am from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. I am in Tulsa, Oklahoma with my trainer Gil Galyean and my three year-old mare, Made By J, who is sired by my stallion, Machine Made. We will be showing in the three year-old Non Pro and Novice Horse classes. I also have my Machine Made two year-old mare, Hawaiian Honey at the show for practice rides before Congress. I’m excited to be here! Check out my pictures from the show.

Goodbye 2015 NSBA World Show! This is my last picture before leaving for the airport, back to my doggy hooligans and vet clinic. Thank you Dianne Eppers and the gang at NSBA for putting on an incredible show. This is my sweet three year-old mare, Made By J ” Jolene” who is out of the great, Dark Jasmine and sired by Machine Made. Jolene and I earned the NSBA World Champion title in the Intermediate Non Pro Three Year-Old Western Pleasure and the Reserve World Champion Open Non Pro Three Year-Old Western Pleasure. This is my very first NSBA World Championship and there are just no words to describe the overwhelming happiness of riding the daughter of my own stud, from his first foal crop. I am bursting with pride and love. Special thanks and much love to Team Galyean and my fabulous husband Cory for all the support. Signing off, Candice.

Today I am giving a shout out to my fellow Canadians. This is Bill and Cathy Cox, of Paris, Ontario. They are cuddling their three year-old mare, Sleep Machine. This mare was raised and loved by The Girls at BSB R11 when the couples’ great show mare, Too Sleepy To Speed, died shortly after giving birth to this filly. “Candice”, (yes, she is named after me!), is sired by Machine Made. She has been winning many of the limited rider open three year-old pleasure futurities this summer with assistant trainer Adam Mathis. The filly became a Reserve NSBA World Champion this week. Candice is very special to Bill and Cathy as she is the only remaining piece of their beloved mare, watching her fill her mother’s shoes in the show pen is a dream come true.

Here is my picture of the day with me in the middle. These are my peeps, my barn mates, my family….. Jenna Dempze, who won the Open Non Pro NSBA World Champion Two Year-Old Western Pleasure and Becky Galyean who came home with the gold in the Intermediate Non Pro NSBA Two Year-Old Western Pleasure. Jenna is riding, Special N I Know It, a mare by One Hot Krymsun while Becky is riding Extreme Moonlite, a mare by Extremely Hot Chips. It takes a team to win a big prize at a horse show, moral support and camaraderie are key ingredients. This is more than just a hobby for many of us–it’s a lifestyle. These girls are the most supportive encouraging friends to have and I am proud to be part of Team Galyean.

My picture of the day celebrates horse show dogs. When we travel away to show, we are forced to leave our three Border Collies home—they are known as “The Hooligans” and I miss them like crazy. There are always so many wonderful dogs at the show—I can always get my furry fix. You see them riding around in golf carts, napping in chairs, taking the elevator up to the room at the hotel and sitting proudly riding shotgun in the big hauler trucks. This is Ray Arnona’s sweet wife Sharon with eight week old mini Aussie, “Cinch”. Ray Arnona who is from New Orleans, Louisiana is the most interesting person to visit with, full of entertaining stories and a lifetime of amusing wisdom to impart. Sharon always has the cutest shoes— different colors of strappy wedges and she is always dolled up. Love her!

Today, my picture of the day is Cheryl Mullikin from Ohio and her 3 year old gelding Justa Machine, after winning the 3 yr old Intermediate BCF Western pleasure class with trainer Wade Black. Wade and “Ziggy” are also Congress champions.
This horse is very near and dear to my heart as he is sired by my stud, Machine Made and out of the great mare, Zip N Therapy. I have his full brother, palomino gelding LemonMade (there were two embryos that year and these were her final two foals). LemonMade and I have won four futurity saddles!
Rumor has it Cheryl’s talented gelding has started changing leads, very exciting! Go Wade!

My picture of the day is of my good friend Cathrin Gutmann from Austria. Today, she showed her black mare, Boys Move Over to a fourth place finish in the Non Pro Hunter Under Saddle Maturity. “Black Betty” is a four year-old mare by Skys Blue Boy and is trained by Nancy Sue Ryan. Cathrin racks up many flying miles back and forth from her home in Austria to horse shows in the States. She also rides OnlyAfraid IntheDark in the western pleasure and trail under the supervision of Michael Colvin. Cathrin and I often share many of the same travel drama–lost luggage, lack of sleep, and adapting to the time change.
Standing with Cathrin is Verena Fischer, who is the barn manager at Gutmann’s estate, Gut Jaidhof in Austria. Fischer’s trip to Tulsa is her first time to attend a horse show in America. Verena says that she is very impressed with the quality of the horses at the NSBA World Show.

The show is definitely underway and I caught up with Joanne Garnett who is from Lincoln, Nebraska. Joanne and her horse, A Sudden Illusion showed in the trail today. “Earl” is a seven year-old gelding who rocks it out in the trail, western pleasure and western riding! Joanne and Earl placed 4th in Select Trail. I admire Joanne and Mike because they are both so involved in the horses as a couple. Her husband, Mike was prime time champion at Reining By the Bay this year.

After flying all night to get here from the West Coast of Canada and arriving with no luggage (boo!), we were so happy to get to the horse show and see all our friends. Outside the entry office is a fantastic display of prizes, including 420 Trophies, 40 BCF Cups, six saddles and 37 sterling buckles. It’s going to be such a fun week for exhibitors.
