We are sorry to inform everyone that Consider Duplicated, a 2005 bay gelding by Consider His Source and out of Zippos Dynamic Gal was humanely euthanized on June 3. Since April, the special gelding known as “Spencer” had been fighting complications associated with laminitis. Unfortunately, he took a turn for the worse and sadly had to be put down. Owner Avery Ellis had shown Spencer for the past five years in the all-around events under the guidance of Nancy Cahill and Michelle Tidwell of Madisonville, Texas.
“Spencer was unlike any horse I’d ever met,” Ellis told us. “He had such a huge personality and heart. He never tried to cheat me in the show pen and he always gave me his all. We grew together since I Â first started showing him in 14-18 when he was still green. He could definitely be stubborn–mainly in the showmanship, but he never let me down.”
Ellis continues, “He really taught me feel and how to ride, and I really learned to understand him. He was super goofy and acted more like a dog than a horse half the time. He loved playing with the dogs, cats, and even calves at home. I’ll never forget how strong our bond was and his huge personality. He is truly one-of-a-kind and can never be replaced. I could never thank him enough for these past five years. He is loved and missed dearly.”
Trainer Nancy Cahill agrees, “Some things are once-in-a-lifetime. I have had a lot of horses, but never one as special as Spencer. You could say he was irreplaceable. You could say he was a character. You could say he was a talent. You could say we were honored to have him. You can say he was quirky, but most of all, he was loved beyond measure. God has just received the best mount ever!”
Consider Duplicated was bred by Riverside Ranch of Sultan, Washington and his past owners included Alyssa Fritz and Parris Rice. The 10 year-old gelding amassed nearly 1,000 points over the course of his career and placed Top 10 with Ellis at the Congress and the AQHYA World Show in several events. In 2014, the team was fifth at the AQHYA World Show in the horsemanship and placed in the Top 6 at the Congress in the 15-18 Youth Western Riding, Trail, and Horsemanship.
“His personality was the best; he was very affectionate and always happy to see you,” says trainer, Michelle Tidwell. “He is at the top of the list of one of my favorites. I am lucky to have been a part of his life. He was very stoic until the very end and we buried him at the farm.”
Avery, Michelle and Nancy would like to thank Cameron Stoudt at Texas Equine Hospital for going above and beyond trying to help Spencer.
Since this is Avery’s last year in youth, she is currently looking for a replacement horse that she can show at the AQHYA World Show in the events she is qualified. Ellis will also be showing her reining horse in Oklahoma City. We would like to send everyone involved with this special horse condolences during this difficult time.
