Major Changes Announced to 2015 AQHA World Show Schedule

As a member-driven organization, it is important to the American Quarter Horse Association to listen to the input of the Association’s exhibitors, trainers and owners. AQHA members are putting in time and resources all year long to qualify for one of the most prestigious horse shows in the world, and the Association is committed to meeting the needs of its valued members with a more exhibitor-friendly schedule in 2015.

The change in the schedule was approved by the Show Committee and refined by the AQHA Show Council, which comprises exhibitors, both trainers and amateurs; owners; breeders; AQHA alliance representatives; and ground-preparation specialists.

“The AQHA World Show is certainly one of the more challenging events to plan, especially with the addition of the Level 2 classes this year,” said Pete Kyle, AQHA chief show officer. “AQHA is very thankful for the diverse group of AQHA members involved in the planning and scheduling process of the show.”

AQHA suggests that all exhibitors, trainers, owners and spectators review the new tentative schedule online before making travel plans for this year’s AQHA World Show November 6-21 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City.

Farnam Superhorse and All-Around Amateur Competitions Criteria

Also new this year, in order for a horse to be crowned the 2015 Farnam Superhorse, the horse must be nationally qualified, entered and shown in three classes in three categories, compared to the three classes in two categories, which were the criteria in previous years. Horses that meet these criteria will automatically be eligible to compete for the highest honor at the AQHA World Show. The Farnam Superhorse award is presented to the horse earning the most points in the show’s open division of competition, with consideration to the mandatory criteria. The winner of the Farnam Superhorse title will receive $25,000 from Farnam, $2,000 in Farnam product, a WeatherBeeta blanket and an original Lisa Perry bronze. The Farnam Reserve Superhorse will receive $10,000 and $1,000 in Farnam product, while the third- through fifth-place finalists each will receive $2,500 and $500 in Farnam product. The Farnam Superhorse presentation is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, November 15.

A similar change in criteria was also made to the Farnam All-Around Amateur competition. In 2015, the award will go to the amateur who nationally qualifies, enters, shows and earns the most points with one horse in a minimum of three classes in three categories. Exhibitors who meet these criteria will automatically be eligible to compete for this year’s Farnam All-Around Amateur title and the prize package of $15,000, $1,000 in Farnam product, a WeatherBeeta blanket and an original Lisa Perry bronze. The Farnam Reserve All-Around Amateur receives $5,000 and $500 in Farnam product, while the third- through fifth-place finalists each receive $1,500 and $250 in Farnam product. An exhibitor may exhibit more than one horse; however, points earned with each horse will be compiled separately. The Farnam All-Around Amateur presentation is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 21.

The qualifying period for the AQHA World Show is August 1, 2014 – July 31, 2015.

Nutrena Ride the Pattern/Ride the Rail clinics, special events and exhibitor parties will be added to the tentative schedule as times and dates are confirmed.
