If you are headed to Oklahoma City this week, you will arrive to find that AQHA is spicing things up this year in anticipation of major changes coming for the 2015 World Show.
First you will find that the AQHA Association of Professional Horsemen will be manning the Ask A Pro Help Desk right outside the show office. This is where exhibitors and visitors alike can go to find out answers to questions, like estimated start times, warm up schedules, draw changes and where to find any little thing you might need while in Oklahoma City.
A major addition for the 2014 World Show is two Level 1, formerly Green, classes and an Owner/Breeder/Exhibitor Weanling class. Level 1 Hunter Under Saddle and Level 1 Western Pleasure will be held as Stakes classes in the Performance arena. Exhibitors will ride for money and prizes during the second week of the show and with the entry deadline not until two days prior to show date it is not too late to enter that extra horse.
Speaking of extra horses, if you have one that you would like to bring along, this year for the first time, AQHA will allow horses that are neither help horses nor horses entered in the show to have stalls on the grounds. Stalls are still available for those who have an extra horse they would like to bring along. Contact AQHA for further information.
And lets not forget the parties! AQHA will be hosting an exhibitor’s party on November 10th at 5:30 in barn 3. Farnam Superhorse preview/barn party also will be in barn 3 on Friday the 14th at 6:30 p.m. This year there will be live entertainment provided each Friday night as well Saturday night November 16th in the Jim Norick Arena.
Bobby Kerr will perform with his mustang act on November 14th & 15th. And get this, sport fans, there will be a sports bar in the corridor for those die-hard fans that want to watch their favorite team. In addition the Built Ford Tough Club will again be in full swing and organist Donnie Neff will provide music during the November 20-22 performances.
A Kid’s Zone will be stocked with toys to keep children busy while Mom and Dad are showing or watching. This will also be the meeting place for kids to meet for Youth Day Saturday the 15th. Kids 12 & under will get in free to watch the show and enjoy guided tours of the facility and barns. Professional Horsemen will not only give the tours but introduce the kids to the most famous horses on the grounds. Have a famous horse that would love to be loved? Contact Charlie Cole, Stephanie Lynn or Todd Branson with AQHA to let a kid meet your horse or to participate in the program.
Best of luck and have fun. Don’t forget to drop off suggestions for next year’s show.
