History of AQHA Superhorses

We’ve rounded up all the former AQHA Superhorses going all the way back to the coveted award’s inception in 1978.

As the name suggests, it does take a “super” horse to nail down the title of AQHA Superhorse. First, said Superhorse must qualify for the AQHA World Championship Show, and that’s no easy feat there. But to be truly competitive in the Farnam Superhorse race, this exceptional athlete must qualify for the AQHA World Show in a number of open division classes, and once under the bright lights of the Jim Norick Arena, the Superhorse hopeful must secure as many top 10 placings as possible. To win is certainly worth their while. Aside from the prestige of going down in AQHA history as a Farnam Superhorse, the winner will receive $25,000 from Farnam, $2,000 in Farnam product, a WeatherBeeta blanket and an original Lisa Perry bronze.
