Fresh off the amateur western pleasure world championship, Rock County Kid took to the AQHA World Show arena once more, putting in an impressive showing in the inaugural Level 1 Western Pleasure Stakes. AQHA Professional Horseman Rusty Green of Pilot Point, Texas, rode the bay gelding to the win for owner Sharnai Thompson, also of Pilot Point.
AQHA World Show Level 1 Western Pleasure Stakes Winners
Three-year-old Rock County Kid is by Good I Will Be and out of the JD Concluded mare JDZ Madison County. For the win, Rock County Kid collected $1,825.
The reserve stakes champion was Suddenly Extreme with Andy Cochran of Aubrey, Texas, in the saddle, and the duo won $1,460 for owner Ruth Marie Rowe of Elizabeth, Colorado. Suddenly Extreme, a sorrel stallion by Extremely Hot Chips and out of RL Saved By Impulse, was bred by Betty Rich of Wewahitchka, Florida, Suddenly Extreme.
