We are happy to report that Brad has been released from the hospital after a two week stay following an ATV accicent. Brad posted this message on his Facebook page on Saturday:
I would like to take the time with sincere gratitude, to thank everyone for your support over the last two weeks. The amount of kind words, prayers, donations and gifts has been surreal and heartfelt. I am finally home and on the road to recovery.
Sincerely, Brad
UPDATE: Wednesday, October 1
From Brad’s GoFundMe Page
After a successful surgery on Monday, we had a scare with Brad’s
kidneys. Post-op blood work showed dangerously elevated levels and it
was determined his kidneys were only functioning at 25%. Once again, he
was back in ICU for close monitoring. The renal specialist said it was
probably a combination of the pain meds, antibiotics, fluid build up
around the lungs and the trauma to his lungs that was causing his
kidneys to start failing.
As of today, 2 days post-op, he has shown significant improvements! The
blood work shows his levels on the decline and his kidney function back
up to 60%. He was even able to walk around unassisted for a short
period of time this morning. We are hopeful he will be discharged by the
end of the week!
The support Brad has received these last eleven days has been absolutely
incredible. He has been blessed beyond words to have such a community
of caring people surrounding him during this time! Thank you!!

UPDATE: Tuesday, September 30
Brad underwent a successful surgery on Monday as doctors determined that part of his collapsed lung was wedged between his ribs. During the surgery they found a piece of rib bone in his lungs. They also removed a liter of fluid from his lungs.
“Brad was not recovering the way the doctors had hoped and they realized something was not right,” Charlie Cole told GoHorseShow.com on Monday. “They now think he will heal much faster and should be on the road to recovery. Hopefully he can get out of the hospital soon.”
The amazingly generous horse show community has raised almost $20,000 toward Brad’s medical expenses. So far, a total of 100 people, many of them anonymous, have donated anywhere from $10 to $1,000. Brad and his family are extremely grateful.
UPDATE: Saturday, September 27
Brad developed a fever that spiked to 103 degrees on Friday. The
cause was unknown but after being treated with
antibiotics and Tylenol to bring his temp down, his fever broke and they are getting him up and walking. According to his sister, Theresa Ost, “Brad is looking a lot better today. Brad appreciates your prayers and well wishes more than words can express! Thank you all.”
UPDATE: Friday, September 26
Brad’s family has created a GoFundMe page to help raise money for Brad’s growing medical expenses. Unfortunately, Brad does not have health insurance. A contribution in any amount would be very much appreciated. All donations will go directly to Brad. You can donate at http://www.gofundme.com/BradOst
From the GoFundMe page:
After being involved in an ATV accident, Brad has has been
in the ICU at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Sherman since Saturday,
September 20. It is unknown at this time how long he will have to remain in the
hospital. Although the doctors
expect a full recovery, it will be painful and require physical therapy and
possible home care. Brad does not have health insurance. Any contribution to
his medical expenses will be a huge burden lifted, and help get him back on his
feet and back on a horse! Thank you all for the outpouring of love and
support!

UPDATE: Tuesday, September 23
“Brad is still in the ICU,” Charlie Cole told GoHorseshow
Tuesday afternoon. “He had a rough
day on Monday, but the doctors have changed his pain medication and he is much
better today.“
After many x-rays and tests, they have determined that Brad sustained the following
injuries after being involved in an ATV accident on Saturday night:
Multiple rib fractures and breaks
Spinal fractures
Collapsed lung and punctures in both lungs
Collapsed colon
According to Cole, “None of these injuries are operable but
all will heal in time. It will be painful, but we expect Brad to recover fully.”
Brad wanted to thank everyone for the calls, texts and
messages. He really appreciates
them!
