Shop Til You Drop with Ali Grusha at the 2014 Congress

When I go to the Congress, the number one priority is shopping. Well, and showing great horses! When packing my trailer and suitcase for the Congress, I make sure that I don’t pack quite enough clothes to get me through the whole show. It’s a great excuse to go shopping. With two large expo centers full of vendors, you are bound to find many things that you can’t live without. They have everything from home goods, horse clothing, dog clothing, men’s and women’s fashion/boots, horse trailers and many many more great vendors.

Boo Yah Custom Clothing is excited for the third year to feature their hunt seat clothing with Beval Saddlery at the American Quarter Horse Congress trade show. Come find them in booth #703 in Congress Hall. “We will have the largest selection of in-stock hunt shirts and coats for women of the year. Many colors, patterns, sizes for purchase, or you can custom order for later delivery,” says owner, Megan J. Brown along with Elizabeth “Spike” Brewer. “For the first time, Boo Yah will feature our satin western women’s blouses with Rod’s Western Wear. We will have assorted colors in stock sizes available with them for purchase,” Brown told us. Both Spike and Megan will be at the Congress through the 25th so please stop by or as always call or email if you need anything!

Rods also offers a ton of different jean styles and fashions for both men and women. Additionally, they have a great Home section! I was loving the tin signs and the skull art they had. Don’t forget to check out their Christmas decorations as well!

Make sure to stop by the Golden West Saddle Pad booth in Congress Hall to check out the fabulous pads by Lori Heckaman. These custom, hand-woven saddle blankets are for the most discriminating showman. Stop by her booth to find a matching pad for your Congress show outfit or discuss with her your ideas for a custom made western pad to match a future outfit or horse. Contact Lori Heckaman at 940-612-1199 for more information.

Who loves Kimes Ranch jeans? I do! Check out their new style, Jolene. You can find them at many vendors including Closet Space in the Annex Building. They are great to ride in or wear out. With a lower rise, this jean is balanced with a larger boot cut and flattering pocket placement. The stand out light stitching makes it an eye-catching option for those looking to take a step into this trend-setting brand. The new style is appropriately named after Dolly Parton’s famous song Jolene as it will, undoubtedly, bring the same recognition and fame to the Kimes Ranch Brand as the song brought to Dolly.

Justin Boots is also located in Congress Hall. Did you know that it takes more than 100 steps to produce one pair of Justin boots? In addition, more than 16 square feet of natural leather goes into every pair, making it easy to see why Justin boots are such a great value. Make sure to stop by and check out all the new styles in stock.

You can’t help but notice some of the most amazing western show saddles here at the Congress. You can go get one for yourself or design a custom one at Harris Leather and Silverworks in Congress Hall. Pictured right is little Ruby showing off her new Harris spurs and spur straps at the Harris booth. Also, don’t forget to try on the new custom H logo Rios of Mercedes boots that Harris has in stock. They are super comfortable from what I hear!
Ok, this isn’t exactly fashion you can wear but, its definitely an accessory worth checking out! H&S Custom Designed Tack and Gear Boxes has a great new invention. A booze box! Why not carry your Crown Royal in style!? These boxes can be fully customized with many different leathers and logos. There is a chance to win one in Congress Hall. Make sure you buy some raffle tickets for this great product.
The Showgirls Apparel booth in Congress Hall is the place to find amazing new and pre-owned show clothing. From the experienced fashion minds of Lindsey James and Erin Gayer, Showgirls Apparel is the source for new and pre-owned show clothes. There are some great finds including Paula’s Place, European designers such as Piccola Rosa, La Collezione de Anna, and of course, Lindsey James.

Here is my favorite part of the fashion article! I borrowed friend, fellow barn mate and Novice Amateur All Around competitor Liz Arnold to be my model. We checked out many different clothing trends and styles. This look pictured right is all about the accessories! Layers, fringe, great jeans and accessories- thats what makes a great outfit. This is great outfit for walking around the Congress or wearing out on the weekends. It’s a lil sassy but also down to earth. Happy shopping!

Thank you Ali Grusha for the fabulous fashion and shopping tips and photos!
