Make Plans to Attend the 37th All American Buckskin Congress

The All American Buckskin Horse Congress runs October 2nd through the 5th at the MSU Pavilion in East Lansing, Michigan. The show is put on by the Buckskin Horse Association of Michigan which is a ABRA charter club. The show features a full slate of ABRA approved classes, as well as a full slate of All Color classes and sweepstakes classes.

There will be over 780 ABRA points up for grabs which makes this the second largest ABRA approved show again this year–second only to the ABRA World Show. Last year, the show gave out over $3900 in sweepstakes winnings and the entries are in line to do that again. The show had 1042 entries last year, and a special bonus is that the ABRA Amateur Select classes are back for 2014. As of right now, the show has 300 stalls sold.

On Friday, October 3rd, the show will hold the BHAM Moonlight Futurity. This is the oldest dun/buckskin futurity around. The futurity is open to any ABRA or IBHA stock. Last year, their payout was over $4000. This year, they will have sponsored added money classes including, The Carleton Equipment Maturity $500 added class which is open to any horse four or over that has ever been entered in the Moonlight Futurity. Contestants can show either western pleasure or hunter under saddle. The other added money class is the two year-old western pleasure. This class has been sponsored by Ken Ferguson Horse Shoeing and will have $100 added.

The show will also be holding the Second Annual Chili Cook Off Contest; a scavenger hunt for all ages; a kids coloring contest (3 age groups) and an exhibitors’ dinner on Saturday night. Late entries are still available and will be up to show time.
