Assistant Women’s Equestrian Coach (Western Discipline) NCAA Division 1. 12 month, full-time, salary commensurate with qualifications.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or higher required from an accredited university. Coaching experience specializing in Western Horsemanship and Reining at the varsity, collegiate level is preferred. However applicants who have competitive and instructional experience within the American Quarter Horse Association and/or National Reining Horse Association will also be considered. Equine management experience would be an asset. Must be able to communicate effectively and work well with student-athletes, University Administration and stakeholders. Candidate must demonstrate strong organizational, management and communication skills and adhere to NCAA and Ohio Valley Conference rules including but not limited to passing the NCAA Certification Test for Recruitment upon employment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include be not limited to assist in implementing and managing all phases of a Division I equestrian program in the western discipline; recruitment of student-athletes, coaching western horsemanship and reining, fundraising, administrative duties, development of camps/clinics and monitoring academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes. Reporting to Head Coach on farm and horse management as well as supervision of student employees.The University of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus of the University of Tennessee System. The campus is located in Northwest Tennessee about 120 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville. The University of Tennessee at Martin has combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment of approximately 7,000 students. A 110’x220’ enclosed, heated facility is available for team practice and competitions. Two outdoor practice arenas, a 10-stall barn and 60 acres of pasture for animals are available for team use.
