The Lucky 7 Classic in Murfreesboro, Tennessee kicked off on Thursday with large pleasure, horsemanship and western riding classes. With over 500 stalls sold, the highly popular show was sold out of stalls with many exhibitors and trainers put on a waiting list hoping that stalls would become available. GoHorseShow is reporting from the show and if you need points to qualify–this is the place to be!
Trainer Amanda Gately, who just opened her new training operation with her boyfriend, Ryan Cottingim in Spring Hill, Tennessee was kind enough to blog for us from the show. Check out her rundown below.
Day 4, Sunday May 11th, 2014
What a better way to spend this warm sunny Mother’s Day than being at the last day of the Lucky 7 Classic.
While the jumping classes were finishing up this early afternoon, exhibitors were able to cool down and enjoy the sponsored ice cream social. There was a choice of chocolate or vanilla ice cream with a variety of topping choices.
The hunter under saddle started immediately after the fence classes with slightly smaller numbers but still two to three point classes. The amateur hunt seat equitation was the last class of the show and finished at a decent hour of 7:15 pm.
Everyone is loading their trailers, tabbing out their show bill, and saying goodbye to their friends, till next time. Thanks to all the friendly staff members who helped put the Lucky 7 Classic show on. We will see you all next year!
Day 3, Saturday May 10th, 2014
The Lucky 7 Classic came very early this morning as the show ended at 3:00 am this morning and started back up at 8:00 am. The busy morning started off with showmanship, which exhibitors showed twice. Nice big black stall bags were awarded to the circuit champions of each age division.
After the showmanship was over, the western riding started in the outdoor arena which had a three hour block. The weather held us up for about 30 minutes while rain knocked off the dust in the pen, but we got right back at it once it let up, and the sunshine came back out. Thank you to the three judges that were hired last minute so the exhibitors were able to show during a decent hour. To finished off the evening, the show had another sponsored dinner event which served some delicious Mexican food.
Tomorrow is the last day of the Lucky 7 Classic with over fence classes, hunter under saddle, and equitation. I hope all exhibitors that left tonight travel home safe.
Day 2, Friday May 9, 2014
Thanks to Tommy Sheets Show Horses for providing everyone with donuts and fresh coffee for breakfast to start out the long day at the Lucky 7 Classic horse show. Hassinger Equine Services also sponsored the exhibitors’ lunch of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs.
Today started out with some major halter classes including the amateur performance halter geldings with 40 entries.
Following the halter, the over fence classes were good sized with two to three point classes, which left the hunter under saddle to be estimated to start between 9:00 and 10:00 pm.
While waiting for classes in the Miller Arena, the 150 trail exhibitors were able to show their horses in the science arena. There were over 40 entered in the Senior Trail alone.
Tomorrow will be a much busier day with Showmanship, Halter, Western Riding, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, and Trail going on.
Thank you to Patrick Kayser for his hard work at making the show run smoothly!
Day 1, Thursday May 8, 2014
What a great day here at the Lucky 7 Quarter Horse show! It is a huge show with some of the top trainers and exhibitors coming to get their last qualification points and compete in some deep and large classes. Everyone was out preparing their horses, enjoying the beautiful sunshine, and catching up with their horse show friends.
There were splits in multiple pleasure classes including 30 in the Green Western Pleasure, 27 in the Novice Amateur, and four point horsemanship and western riding classes. There was a $25 dollar gift card given away in every class.
Tonight, everyone had a great time with friends at the BBQ exhibitor party, which was generously sponsored by Prince Farm and Judson Smith, followed by the highlight of the night– four Nashville songwriters playing some of their hit songs.
Stay tuned to tomorrow where all the big time halter trainers including: Ted Turner, Jeffrey Pait, Dewey Smith, Ronald Stratton, and Andy Staton will be competing in some huge halter classes!
