The $2,000 Harris Leather Gift Certificate 2014 Winner Announced

On Tuesday, April 1 GoHorseShow.com launched a contest in which our readers could enter to win a $2,000 gift certificate from HarrisLeather and Silverworks. The contest ended at midnight on Monday, April 14. The premise of the contest was for GoHorseShow.com readers to vote for their favorite ad in the April issue of GoMag. Throughout the two weeks we received a total of 35,410 total votes…an average of over 2,500 votes a day! Each time an ad was voted for, the person voting AND the person in the ad received an entry into the drawing to be held on Tuesday, April 15.

The 2014 GoMag $2,000 Harris Leather Gift Certificate contest has come to a close. The computer has randomly drawn out of a possible 70,820 votes and the winner is…youth exhibitor, CHANEY GETCHELL of Rancho Santa Margarita, California!

GoHorseShow.com was able to reach Chaney by phone to let her know she was the winner. “Oh my gosh, that’s awesome!” said the Junior at Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo, California. “Thank you so much!” Chaney had just finished studying for the upcoming ACT test when her Mom, Kelly Marks-Getchell informed her that GoHorseShow.com wanted to talk to her.

Chaney’s ad which can be found on page 38 of the April 2014 issue of GoMag, featured her horse In Prinzziples Image whom she has owned for almost three years and has in training with Bruce Vickery. In October, Chaney and “John Junior” won the Novice Youth Western Riding and were Reserve in Novice Youth Trail at the AQHA Novice Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her ad was designed by Eric Mendrysa of Emajes Design.

Chaney finished with the second highest number of votes overall but the winning vote came from April 11. “Our strategy was for all of my family and everyone at my Mom and Dad’s offices to vote for me every day,” Chaney explained.

“We would like to thank GoHorseShow and Harris Leather for their generosity,” said Chaney’s parents, Kelly and Tim. “We actually own three Harris saddles,” Kelly told us. “We had one of
them stolen a while back and I worked with Phil Harris to get a
replacement saddle. He was the nicest man and everyone at Harris was amazing and helped us get a new saddle really quickly.”

“We would also like to thank Eric Mendrysa for his creativity with Chaney’s ads,” continued Kelly and Tim. “And finally, we would like to thank Bruce Vickery for being an incredible trainer and inspiration to Chaney.”
