One word comes to mind when describing Huntin My Zipper and his sire, Hubba Hubba Huntin–versatile. Both father and son epitomize the definition of this word–adaptable, flexible, all around, multifaceted, multitalented, resourceful; adjustable, multipurpose, all-purpose, and handy to name a few.
These outstanding traits were recently rewarded by NSBA when Huntin My Zipper was rewarded 2013 NSBA Horse of the Year. Highrange Ranch located in Pilot Point, Texas is proud to congratulate their stallion for siring such an outstanding individual.
“We couldn’t be any happier that NSBA chose to recognize Huntin My Zipper’s (Bob) accomplishments,” says Hubba’s owner, Breanne Porter. “I think he is the type of horse NSBA strives to promote. His versatility is definitely the trait that we are breeding for in our own program and those that are breeding to Hubba.”
“The majority of Hubba’s foals are just making their way into the show pen, and many of them look like they will be able to do both western and English, as Bob is doing, and what Hubba has done,” Porter states. “We are very pleased with the reactions we are getting from all his foal owners. We have crossed him on many different types of mares, from halter to thoroughbreds to pleasure mares, and they all pretty much have been great to work with and have very bright futures.”
Huntin My Zipper’s owner, Rebekah Kazakevicius says it was an incredible honor for Bob to be recognized for his accomplishments. “Words can’t begin to express the gratitude that I have for everyone at Highpoint Performance Horses for making this possible,” Rebekah states. “The most gratifying aspect of winning Horse of the Year is that he is the first horse that I have owned myself. For him to be acknowledged for his accomplishments in 2013 makes this award very special.”
Kazakevicius adds, “Not only is this award special for myself as an owner, I know it is equally special for Charlie Cole and Jason Martin who bred and raised Bob. Because the Horse of the Year award is designed to represent the best in the history of the pleasure horse industry based on NSBA participation, show record, and points, it is very humbling to know that the association recognizes not only primarily western horses, but English horses as well.”
Huntin My Zipper’s 2013 show record is very impressive, winning both the Limited and Open Non Pro Three Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle at the All American Quarter Horse Congress as well as Beth Case winning the Green Hunter Under Saddle at the NSBA World Championship Show.
“Bob has a very willing personality. He is very eager to learn and very rarely says no, which makes him a great all around prospect because he has the enthusiasm and patience to learn new events. I think what sets him apart from other horses first and foremost is his consistency, along with his natural athleticism, versatility, and pleasant attitude in the show pen,” Kazakevicius states. “Future plans for Bob involve becoming more consistent in the trail and western riding, along with continuing to show in the hunter under saddle.”
As far as Bob’s sire, Hubba Hubba Huntin’s foals are eligible for The Super Sire Western Pleasure Program, AQHA Incentive Fund, NSBA Stallion Incentive Fund, NSBA Breeder’s Cup Futurity, APHA Breeder’s Trust, Tom Power’s Triple Challenge Trust, and The Southern Belle Invitation.
Since his yearling year, “Hubba” has shown and won at every major futurity and show. While he has won multiple titles every year he has competed, 2009 was one of his stand-out years. He won all-around after all-around across the nation, specifically dominating the junior western riding. He also continued to win in events including: trail, hunter under saddle, western pleasure, and halter (all events he has been top ten or top five in at the AQHA World Show). He topped off his year with a NSBA World Championship, a Congress Championship, a Reserve Congress Championship, an AQHA Reserve World Championship, and AQHA World Show placings in every class he competed. Hubba ended the 2009 year as the AQHA Reserve All-Around Junior Horse, AQHA Green Trail High Point, and a lengthy list of other AQHA and NSBA high points.
