On March 7 through the 9th, the 2014 Spring Celebration Circuit kicked off the 2014 show season for the Tennessee Quarter Horse Association in Harriman, Tennessee. The judges were Shawn Hays, Robin Griggs, Tanya Green, and Kendra Weis. This show was bound for success, with fabulous weather in the forecast and more than 270 stalls were reserved going into the weekend.
“If you weren’t at the Spring Celebration show you missed out,” says Amateur competitor Tina Freeland. “The Tennessee Quarter Horse Association put on a show that was southern hospitality at its finest. Large classes, good judges, acceptable length show days with adequate warm up times, reasonable all inclusive fees, great vendors and friendly, helpful staff. This show had it all and was truly a pleasure to attend!”
Horses and exhibitors came from near and far away, including from Ohio, Illinois, Alabama, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, Florida, and of course, Tennessee. The weekend was blessed with sunny, pleasant weather, and many folks embraced that by riding in the outdoor arenas on the show grounds.
However, the exhibitors made one thing clear—the competition was fierce, and the classes were deep, no matter the division. There was notable participation in the Green and Select Amateur classes—with multiple two and three-point classes throughout the weekend. The Senior Western Pleasure boasted 20 entries in a nice, highly competitive class on Saturday. The English classes on Sunday did not disappoint with more than 60 over-fences trips, and good-sized flat classes as well.
Outside of the pen, those with a sweet tooth weren’t disappointed. The TQHA Youth sold Litton’s cakes by the slice on Saturday and Sunday. Several vendors were in attendance, including Farmers’ Valley Co-op, Show Diva, Jean’s Custom Creations, Two Track Tack, and DAC. The show’s photographer was SoCo Media & Design. All-Around Awards were beautiful, large ARC horse trophies with an 8×10 photo sponsored by SoCo Media & Design. Class prizes included vet wrap, TQHA notepads, and ear-bud headphones.
