COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina equestrian team is ranked No. 1 in the country for the 15th straight week, it was announced this week. The Gamecocks have been ranked No. 1 since Dec. 2, 2013.
Not counting the mid-season break that takes up parts of December and January, the Gamecocks have officially been ranked No. 1 in the last seven NCEA Rankings releases.
Carolina (11-2, 4-2 SEC) is on a seven-meet winning streak and coming off a 13-7 victory over Tennessee-Martin on Saturday in its regular season finale. The Gamecocks’ 11 wins during the regular season this year is a program record.
South Carolina returns to action at the 2014 SEC Equestrian Championships, which will take place March 28-29 at One Wood Farm in Blythewood, S.C.. The Gamecocks are the No. 1 seed for this year’s championship, and will face No. 4 seed Texas A&M in the opening round on March 28. The winner of that meet and the winner of the Georgia/Auburn meet will face off in the SEC Championship meet, scheduled for 2 p.m. on March. 29.
