“With tear filled eyes and a broken heart we regretfully inform you that on February 6th we lost a great sire and a huge chunk of my heart in his short life,” says Western Gunslinger’s owner, Lisa King of King’s Quarter Horses in Crescent City, Florida.
Western Gunslinger was a 2007 N/N sorrel stallion that died due to complications associated with intestinal tumors. He was well on his way to securing a spot as one of the very best halter stallions standing today. Sired by Golden Gunslinger and out of Western N Coolest, he was bred by
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rolling of Luverne, Alabama.
“Both Donnie and I would like to add how appreciative we are to Doug Tallent for the love and care that our horse had throughout his life. Doug was with him most of his life and he was very special to him,” added Lisa.
In his impressive show career, Western Gunslinger was
the 2008 AQHA World Champion Yearling Stallion and Reserve World
Champion Amateur Yearling Stallion and an unanimous Congress Champion.
He was equally an impressive sire, who in his short breeding career, earned the titles of World Champion Sire, Breeders Halter Futurity Champion Sire, and National Championship Halter Show Champion Sire. He sired the 2013 Congress Champion in both the Yearling and Two Year Old Stallion classes.
Currently, he has 103 registered foals with 46 performing. His get have amassed over 1,628.5 points, three AQHA World and three AQHA Reserve World Champions. Some of his impressive offspring include: Western Whistler, Secret Gunfighter, Gun Fighter, Hezasonofagun, Hit The Bullseye, Hoosier Gunslinger, Pistol Packin Sally, Ugonnakissmeornot, Hez Packing Heat, Western Jewell, Rickochet Kid, One Cool Sonofagun, and LR Johnny Ringo.
On behalf of everyone at GoHorseShow, we would like to send our deepest
condolences to Lisa and Donnie King on the loss of their beloved
stallion.
