Amateur Cathrin Gutmann of Jaidhof, Austria is an international exhibitor at this year’s AQHA World Show. Gutmann and her mare, Blue Couture are just off a fabulous Congress with an impressive win in the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle. We look forward to Cathrin bringing us her view of the AQHA World Show each day.
LAST DAY–November 23, 2013
Here’s Allison and me heading home to Austria! Allison will have a little vacation and do a clinic at our facility and I will finally be home again. It was an incredible year, and we had and we had a good time at the World. Thank you GoHorseShow for asking me to do the picture of the day. It was fun and I got to meet lots of people. See you next year!
DAY 14–November 22, 2013
Pictured here is Beth Case and Look N Hott who were the World Champions in the Senior Hunter Under Saddle today. It was a great class with high quality horses. My horse, Blue Couture, looked very good and she ended up sixth with my trainer, Allison Clark.
DAY 13–November 21, 2013
Pic of the day–I am pictured here with my friend Jennifer Simpson from GoHorseShow on the left and Dr. Julie Christopher on the right. Julie was the vet that supervised me during last year’s world show when I brought my mare Al Be Graceful and she had to be quarantined during the whole show. It was great catching up again this year! The picture was taken after Sky’s ride in Senior Hunter Under Saddle where she made the finals, whoot whoot!
DAY 12–November 20th
Pic(s) of the day- they both are pictures taken last night, but I thought both should be taken. The first picture is of Bruce Vickery and Darcy Reeve after Bruce’s win in the Junior Trail with Zipschocolateimpulse for the Reeve family.
The second picture, and I just love it, is the Gilliam family. Jason
was sixth in the Junior Trail with Only One Way To Rock who is owned by
his mother-in-law, Janet Gunn. Jason and Jessica are with their little
daughter who is destined to be a little future champion. That’s where
you see that horses are for every kind of age and level – if the passion
is there you are able to accomplish great things.
DAY 11–November 19th
Leonard and Leigh Berryhill- such nice people to be around. I met them the first time at this year’s Redbud in Oklahoma City before we all had to flee the fairgrounds because of the tornadoes.
DAY 10–November 18th
Today I visited with trainers Jay and Kristy Starnes and Kristen Galyean’s stallion, VS Flatline. What a great year they are having! They will show in the Junior Western Pleasure at the World Show. Next year in March they will come to Austria and do a clinic at our place.

DAY 9–November 17th
The legendary Sweet Shop! Catching my trainer, Allison Clark and Stacy Huls (2012 World Champion in both Junior and Senior Hunter Under Ssaddle) eating a Cinnamon Roll! As we always have to walk past The Sweet Shop to get to the practice arena, it is really hard to avoid it and to be honest: you don’t actually want to!
DAY 8–November 16th
Meet Leslie Lange with Dress in Gold who just was crowned World Champion in the Amateur Trail last week with his owner, Peyton Bivins. Leslie’s stalls are next to ours so we meet every once in a while.
DAY 7–November 15th
Pictured here AQHA World Champion Trail exhibitor Murray Griggs and World Champion pleasure trainer, Adam Wainscott with Robin Griggs at the Griggs’ stalls. I met them through my trainer Allison Clark. Very nice people and they have a popcorn machine–that’s something I really love about going by their stalls!!
DAY 6–November 14th
Winner’s dinner last night with Courtney Suzanne Brockmueller, her husband, Mark and her mother, Nancy Sue Ryan. We celebrated Courtney’s win in the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle. I ended up 10th in a tough class of great horses!
DAY 5–November 13th
Meeting Johnna and Travis Dobbs and their gold trophy for their win in the Senior Barrels! I first met Johnna at last year’s AQHA World Show. I met her through Travis’ mother and AQHA President Johne Dobbs who I met at last year’s European Championships in Germany. We’ve met at different horse shows throughout the year and they are so much fun!
DAY 4–November 12th
Here’s Karen Hornick, Darcy Reeve, A Certain Vino and Karen’s dog, Bella. They’re getting ready for the Amateur Western Pleasure finals this afternoon. I first met Karen last year at the World. A few years ago, she trained my western pleasure horse, OnlyafraidInthedark and won the Coughlin Two Year-Old at the Congress with her in 2010.
DAY 3 – November 11th
GoHorseShow is excited to report that Cathrin Gutmann made it back to the finals Monday in the Amateur Hunter Under Saddle with her mare, Blue Couture. Since Cathrin turned 25 years-old today, it was a great birthday present!
Cathrin: I’m so happy we made it back, it wasn’t easy. I was a little nervous as I know that this isn’t Sky’s favorite arena to show in and she doesn’t like the ramp coming into the arena. She was good though and I was way more relaxed already in the semi-finals. Now, we have two more days to get ready for the finals. I’m already looking forward to showing again!
DAY 2 – November 10
I really enjoyed visiting Shorty’s Caboy Hattery in the trade center. Shorty is pictured in the middle and I’m on the far right.
DAY 1 – November 9
Early morning ride–our first get together since the Congress. I
went straight from the Oklahoma City airport to the show to ride. This
was my very first time entering the Gateway of Champions…Let the World
Show begin!
