“The 2013 Congress Super Sale, presented by Kaplow
Insurance, proved to be strong and consistent in today’s horse market,”
according to Mike Jennings. Mike and Stephanie Jennings of Round Hill, VA, own
Professional Horse Services, LLC and managed the auction for the Ohio Quarter
Horses Association.
The gross sales were $846,000 with an average price of
$5,716.22. The average price rose
5.6% from last year. The median
price of $4,500 was up by 12% from $4,000 last year. With 15 fewer horses offered in the auction, the gross sales
were off only 4.4% from the 2012 auction. The percentage of horses actually
sold remained steady at 82%.
The High Selling Horse (pictured below) at $33,000, was Hip #101, Rockett
Man, a 2012 bay stallion, consigned by John Boxell as agent for Kimberley &
Randy Haines, of Lima, Ohio and presented by John Wainscott. The handsome colt is by the popular
young sire, Batt Man. The new
owner is Lindsay Hall of Weston, CT.
The second High Seller (pictured right, main image) at $29,000, was Hip #5, Macs Good N
Plenty, Congress Champion and a leading sire of Western Pleasure Horses,
consigned by Brian and Kim Brandriet of Watertown, SD. The buyer is Steven Schultz, from
Horace, ND.
The Leading Consignor Award, 4 custom directors chairs
sponsored by The Clothes Horse, for the 2013 Congress Super Sale goes to John
Boxell and Richland Ranch of Auburn, IL.
