These Irons Are Hot Sires NSBA Limited NP 2 Year-Old HUS Champs

These Irons Are Hot (Dexter) has been on a roll these past few years as a leading hunter under saddle sire. On Thursday at the NSBA World, a daughter of his, Natural Mead, was named NSBA World Champions in the Non-Pro Limited Two Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle and the duo ended up reserve in the Open Non-Pro class.

The two year-old bay mare, Natural Mead is owned by Cindi Roth of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. “She is a lovely filly who was started and trained by Angie Cannizzaro,” says Nancy Sue Ryan, who is Roth’s trainer. “She is super natural mover which enables her to have self carriage.”

The mare’s dam is Made To Be Natural by Natural Iron, who was inducted into the NSBA Hall of Fame last night. The dam was purchased in foal from Carl Yamber.

“I’m very happy about Natural Mead’s achievements at the NSBA World Show, ” says Adria Smith, owner of her sire, These Irons Are Hot. “Seeing an owner’s dream come true is what makes me the happiest. Cindi reflects this as she foaled out, raised and showed Natural Mead to a championship today.”

Smith also recently found out that Dexter was the #1 Equi-stat leading sire of hunter under saddle horses for 2012. Equi-stat leading sire lists are based on yearly money earned by offspring whereas AQHA’s leading sire lists are based on points earned.

“The news came as a surprise, so, it was very exciting to learn that Dexter was the 2012 Equi-stat Leading Hunter Under Saddle Sire. I am very proud of him and his offspring,” Adria states. “I am grateful for the mare owners who have had faith in Dexter to breed to him and the foal owners who go out and show his get because they are the ones who made this achievement possible.”

Some of his get that helped Dexter reach the top of the Equi-stat list include:

“Dexter’s foals are consistently possessing his size, talent, movement and great mind,” Adria says.
