“It feels amazing,” says Morgan Lynn Heck of Monroe, Ohio about winning the NSBA World Championship in the Novice Youth Hunter Under Saddle on her horse, June Has The Details. “We had a great ride and this is by far my favorite win on June.”
The new team had three firsts and a second to take home the win. June is a 2009 bay gelding by multiple world champion sire, Hot N Blazing and out of Ima Detail. The gelding is named after the late June Warren who was inducted into the NSBA Hall of Fame on Wednesday night. Warren sold June Has The Details’ mother, Ima Detail to breeder, Carol Lyn Fuller and Warren was the one that suggested to Fuller that she should breed the mare to Hot N Blazing. It was a great cross because June Has The Details has turned into a standout in the hunter under saddle pen.
As far as June’s new rider, 18 year-old, Morgan Lynn Heck just recently started back showing again. “Sports had always been a huge part of my life, and I was always struggling between horses and soccer,” Heck told GoHorseShow. “I knew that I only had four years of my life to play a high school sport, but horses didn’t have a time limit on them. However, I knew that right after I graduated I wouldn’t have to worry about sports and could focus on horses and that’s exactly what I did.”
The duo are under the guidance of Miranda Sams-McIntosh. “I absolutely love my trainer. She always has a positive attitude, always laughing or smiling,” Heck states. “She’s great with people and the horses, and I like everything about her. When I took my break from riding, I told my mom that the second I am ready to get back into riding she was the first person I was going to call, and I am so very happy that I did.”
Due to her mother, Morgan says she was pretty much born into the horse show life. “My mom has always ridden horses, and I’ve ridden horses ever since I could hold my head up and have shown ever since I could walk,” says Heck, who will be attending Miami University in the fall to be a high school science teacher. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mom. She is truly amazing, and I am so thankful for her getting me this far. She has always pushed me to do my best, and it’s definitely paying off.”
This team’s future plans are to do well at the upcoming shows this summer and fall including the Congress coming up in October. We wish these new NSBA World Champions the best of luck!
