We would like to congratulate Cole Gower of Lloydminster, Alberta, Canada on the purchase of 2012 Congress Champion, As Shes Walkin Away (Jules) from Megan McMullen of Norris, Tennessee. The superior western pleasure mare is by World Champion sire, Blazing Hot, and out of Lopins Dream who is out of the legendary dam, Born Lopin.
“I am so glad that she went to someone in Bruce Vickery’s barn,” says former owner Megan McMullen, who won the Congress 15-18 Western Pleasure last year with the mare. “I know she will be taken care of and treated very well. I hate that I had to sell her, but I couldn’t think of a better barn she could go to.”
Megan adds, “No matter what mood she was in; she was always ready to do her job and I can’t wait to watch someone else get the chance to show her. I’m so grateful that we got four babies from her that are coming next year. I wish the family good luck with her, and I know they will love her as much as I do.”
According to Gower, his trainer, Bruce Vickery had been interested in finding a horse that Cole could show in the western pleasure and western riding.
“At the Youth World, Bruce heard that Jules might be offered for sale,” Cole told GoHorseShow. “We took full advantage of the opportunity that presented itself and expressed an interest to the McMullen family and Gil Galyean within hours. Jules is an outstanding mare that knows her job in the pleasure pen. Mr. Galyean had started changing leads on her, and she is showing incredible potential with that discipline as well.”
Despite being able to pose for a picture at the NSBA World Show, their first show together will be at the PCQHA Fall Classic in Del Mar, California. Gower will first start showing her in the western pleasure. “I am still a novice in the western pleasure which is a good thing as it has been a long time since I was in a pleasure class!” says Gower who is excited about the opportunity. “We are hoping to add the western riding to her resume in the near future.”
Cole would like to take the opportunity to thank the McMullen family, Gil and Becky Galyean and Bruce Vickery for all their help in purchasing her. “I am thrilled about the exciting future that awaits!”
