GoHorseShow is happy to announce the new partnership between up-and-coming horse trainers, Dave Archer and Tate Oakley. The future appears bright and possibilities endless for these young professionals who appear ready to do the work to rise in the ranks of this often grueling and uncompromising profession. Both Oakley and Archer make a point to say that this is a 50/50 partnership and they will be working together as a team.
“As a horse trainer and as business partners, we both know you have to be open minded and ask for plenty of help,” Archer tells GoHorseShow. “Both of our pluses and faults even each other out. So, it really plays a key role that we go back and forth on all our horses in order to make it work. We just want to strive to make every horse and rider the best it can be and to further our understanding and talent as horse trainers.”
Currently, the partnership is up and running out of Dave and Courtney Archer’s ranch located in Pilot Point, Texas. It’s a 12 acre facility with two show barns, a 20 stall mare motel, 200 x 120 outdoor arena, round pen, two large turn out pens and three extra large pastures.
GoHorseShow asked the young trainers how this partnership came about and what convinced them that training together would be a wise decision. According to Tate, earlier this year, Dave had asked Tate to help out part-time through a stretch of shows.
“We ended up working really well together,” recalls Tate, the son of trainer, Troy Oakley, who has been involved in the horse industry ever since he was a young boy. “We both ride quite a bit alike and along with the camaraderie that we have, we both feel like we have the drive and desire it takes to make it in this industry.”
Dave and Tate appreciate the support of Butch and Patty Campbell, Jamie West, Tate’s parents, Troy and Vickie Oakley, Courtney Archer and Dave’s parents, Wilburn and Joyce Archer, Rusty and Katie Green, Tim Zuidema, Jay and Kristy Starnes, Greg Wheat, Andy Cochran, Matt Baker, Jason Gilliam, Gil Galyean and last but not least, little Joe O’Gorman.
GoHorseShow would like to wish Tate and Dave the best of luck in this new endeavor.
Oakley and Archer would also like to thank Blue Ribbon Custom Tack, Equine Mega Omega, Good Ride, Western Hauler and Just Stitch It for all their support of this new partnership.
