The six-judged Memorial Day Spectacular Zone 4 Zone-O-Rama is now history. The Texas Paint Horse Club held the show at the Heart O’ Texas Fairgrounds in Waco, Texas. The judges for the show were Sandy Curl, Eric Hubbard, Mike Shepperd, Terry Sartain, Scott Merritt, and John Ed Tabb. They had a total of 819 entries per judge for the show.
“I have to give major props to the Texas Paint Horse Club’s Memorial Day Spectacular’s show managers, Renee Robinson and Kevin Smith for putting on such a great show,” says Megan Ryden, who shows in the amateur events with her horse, Must Be Sensational. “The youth and amateur classes were really tough, in addition to almost all being full point. There were even pointed solid paint bred classes, which we rarely see here in Texas. This was the number two show in the country last year, and. since the classes were so big this year too, I’m sure it will be one of the top shows for 2013 as well.”
Ryden adds, “One really cool thing about the show was the Calcutta they had on Sunday. The club auctioned off teams to compete in Showmanship and Western Pleasure and raised over $7,000 to help the tornado victims in Moore, Oklahoma. It was a hot and humid three days, but everyone seemed to enjoy the large classes and the laid back schedule!”
