The Silver Dollar Circuit is currently underway in Las Vegas, Nevada. The highly popular show is being held March 12th through the 17th. The judges for the show are Casey and April Devitt, Jennifer Leckey, Brent Tincher, Brad Kearns, and Jeffrey Pait.
“I look forward to this show every year,” says Jeff Johns, who shows in the amateur events with Jim and Deanna Searles. “The facility is one of the best in the country and there is so much to do even when you aren’t riding or in the show pen. It also helps that you can wake up in the morning and watch the horse show on your television in the room. Finally, it’s Vegas; how can you not have fun here?”
Amateur Pamela Bilek agrees, “Everyone at South Point are so accommodating and the facility is great. Usually at shows, we get all dressed up and sit and wait and wait but here you can watch in your room, get dressed and then go show your class. South Point does a great job and it’s convenient. As a bonus, we get to lose our winnings in the casino!” says Pamela laughing, who is also excited that her horse, Huntin Big Dreams (Clint) won the circuit champion in Senior Western Pleasure with Shane Dowdy in the saddle.
“As an amateur I love the new Silver Dollar Circuit schedule format having all the open classes on Tuesday and Wednesday and strictly amateur and youth classes from Thursday to Sunday,” says Jason Wanderer, who hauls with Tom and Leslie Lange. “I particularly like that the horses have been in the arena twice before we (amateur or youth) show and that the trainers are done showing and can focus strictly on coaching us. The hotel even offers horse blanket laundry on the list in your room.”
Trainer Tara Lombardo Anderson who kindly offered to take candid pictures for us says that she was impressed with the facility. “There’s plenty of great restaurants here. There’s a spa, bowling alley, and movie theater right here in the hotel,” says Tara, who won the Limited Open Three Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle on A Whiskey Girl who is trained by Dan Prouhet and owned by Matthew Barrackman. “I’ve never been here before, so I’m impressed with the barn and show arena being attached to the hotel and casino. Definitely a fun show!”
