Congress Champion Zipped N Bar Teddy Passes

GoHorseShow reports that beloved all-around gelding, Zipped N Bar Teddy (Zippy), was euthanized on March 17, 2013 due to a twisted intestine. Zippy was last owned and loved by The Hadlock Family of Goodlettsville, Tennessee. The 1992 sorrel gelding was by Zipped N Barred and out of Marberns Pollyanna and he was bred by James Leroy Walker of Anamosa, Iowa.

“As most people know he was diagnosed as insulin resistant several years ago,” says Donna Hadlock, who showed Zippy from time to time with her daughters. “Through diet and medication, we were able to show him for many years. As the stress of hauling and showing seemed to be hard on his condition, we retired him and only took him to a few local shows the past few years. We always thought some complication from insulin resistance is how he would die, but, actually, he lived very well and was sound and happy.”

Hadlock continues, “He got sick suddenly, and when the vet got to our house, he diagnosed him with a twisted intestine. We knew the decision that had to be made as he was in severe pain. We were so blessed to have him in our lives. Many thanks to Dr. Scott Morrison with Rood and Riddle for the diagnosis and help with him all these years.”

The kind-hearted gelding was a multiple Congress winner, AQHYA World Show placer and amassed 2,480 points, an AQHA Open Championship, and an impressive 14 superiors.

Donna’s younger daughter, Jessie, was partners with Zippy for five years. “I just want everyone to know how honest and loyal he was. He gave 110% at all times,” Jessie fondly recalls. “If we ever made a mistake in the show pen, it was my mistake. He was not the fanciest, or best mover or best spinner but it was his huge heart, will power, consistency and dependability that was so special about him. I will forever miss him!”

Zipped N Bar Teddy had several owners over the years including Jennifer and Mandy Reimann, Devon and Kate Salvadore, Leia Rose, and Donna, Greg, Ashley and Jessie Hadlock. Zippy was a point earner in multiple events including the hunter under saddle, equitation, showmanship, western pleasure, horsemanship, western riding, trail, halter, pole bending and reining. He was also under the guidance of trainers such as Vicky Holt and Mike and Charlene Carter during his prolific show career.

“Thank you for all the countless memories,” says, Ashley Hadlock, who showed Zippy along with her younger sister, Jessie, for many years. “You were truly a once-in-a-lifetime horse to our family. You took us places that we would never have been able to reach without you. Every ride will be for you Zippy, and you will forever be in my heart, love you always.”
