UPDATE: Its Been Awhile Wins Reserve Junior Hunter Under Saddle

UPDATE: GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Its Been Awhile and Karen Graham on placing second in a tough Junior Hunter Under Saddle class at the AQHA World Show on Thursday afternoon. The talented gelding was raised by Beth Case and is owned by Theresa Pfeiffer who won the Novice Amateur Hunter Under Saddle at this year’s Congress. Check out the profile we did on them at the Congress!

After a ten year hiatus from the show arena, GoHorseShow is excited to report that Theresa Pfeiffer of Edmond, Oklahoma, took home the win in the Novice Amateur Hunter Under Saddle with her three year-old, Its Been Awhile (Ben). With seven cuts, two semifinals, and a final, Pfeiffer was pretty winded after her ride, but she held on to beat 95 other horses. With two firsts and two seconds, the duo was the clear winner in this tough class.

“I was so excited when we won,” says, Theresa, who has only shown Ben at two other shows. “I reached down and hugged his neck. He is such a cool horse, great minded and loves his job. He also debuted at the Congress in the Junior Pleasure Driving and won his class which is a testament to what a great attitude he has—I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to own and show him.”

The first two times Pfeiffer showed Ben was at the NSBA World Show where they won the Novice Amateur Hunter Under Saddle and the Reichert Celebration where they were circuit champions in the same class. Last year, Ben also won the Two Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle at the Congress with Beth Case aboard.

“I’m so proud of Theresa for doing such a good job today, especially having to show three times in a row,” says Beth Case, who is Ben’s trainer. “I am also proud of Ben for being so good for her. He’s only three, and I raised him. I am so happy for both of them.”

Theresa’s daughter, Alexis, also adds, “It is great seeing my mom in the show arena again. She took time off when I showed, and now she is back at it again. Ben actually shows better for her than me or Beth in the arena. He must have a soft spot for my mom.”

One fun fact about Ben is that his father is a paint stallion, Double Up Investment, and he is double registered as a solid bred paint and quarter horse.

Watch out for Beth showing him in the Three Year Old Open Hunter Under Saddle Finals later this week and also Nancy Sue Ryan showing him in the Junior Hunter Under Saddle.
