On this Veterans Day many of us are proudly remembering the contributions of generations who have served in the armed forces.
Regardless of our political affiliations (our joy or dismay about the outcome of recent local, state and federal elections) we can all appreciate that we live in a pretty great country with many freedoms that have come at the expense of those who have served in our nation’s armed forces.
Two years ago the NSBA Foundation introduced a competition called Heroes On Horses to honor disabled veterans who partner with horses in their healing process. In 2012, veterans serving in Iraq, Iraqi Freedom, Desert Storm (2)/Desert Shield, US Coast Guard east and west coast, and Vietnam (3) were honored in the Parade of Heroes and the Heroes On Horses classes.
Devin Robertson, one of the veteran’s was interviewed by the local Tulsa news station about her experiences with the Heroes On Horses Program. To view her interview, please follow the link below.

Today as you think about the many sacrifices that our veterans have made and the physical as well as emotional wounds that they have endured, please remember NSBA Foundation Veteran’s programs. Several of the veterans would not have been able to attend the NSBA World Championship Show without the NSBA members who sponsored their travel to Tulsa. If you have flight or hotel vouchers that you may be able to donate to a veteran for their use next August, please let us know so that we can put you on our resource list. If you can make a contribution to the NSBA Foundation to help support the veterans programs, your donation will be tax deductible! Donations can be mailed to the NSBA Office at 1391 St Paul Ave, Gurnee, IL.
Thank You!
The NSBA Foundation is a 501 c 3 Charity funded solely through donations. For more information about the Heroes On Horses, Parade of Heroes or other Foundation programs, please contact Becky Volkert at [email protected]
