Virginia Owen and One Lazy Investment Win 12-14 Pleasure

GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Virginia Owen of Piedmont, South Carolina and One Lazy Investment (Lazy) on being the unanimous winner of the 12-14 Western Pleasure at the Congress. It was Owen’s first Congress Championship, and she is excited that she finally reached one of her goals. She won the Congress bronze trophy as well as a work saddle from Blue Ribbon Saddlery.

“I had the best ride I have ever had on him,” Virginia told GoHorseShow after her win. “I just had to sit up there and he showed so well. I was hoping I would be up in the placings but I’m so excited that we were winners across the board.”

Virginia’s father, Peek Owen, said that he was really proud of his daughter. “It has been her goal since spring to try and get ready for the big shows and do well. We just moved to train with Kenny and Ashley Lakins. We are just getting to know them, but they have helped Virginia so much already. We look forward to seeing Kenny show Lazy in the Senior Western Pleasure at the AQHA World Show.”

Virginia says she plans on putting her trophy in her dad’s trophy case in the den, and she looks forward to showing Lazy again next year at the Youth World. She also hopes her father will be able to show Lazy again sometime soon when he overcomes some health issues.

One Lazy Investment was raised by Tanya and Steve Relander and was the last foal out of the late January Investment and by Lazy Loper, who is fast becoming one of the youngest sires to dominate the pleasure industry.

Virginia’s father purchased Lazy as a surprise for his daughter in March of 2011 and he won the Junior Western Pleasure at the 2011 AQHA World Championship Show with Kenny Lakins. We wish them luck at the World Show and next year!
