The SmartPak West Novice Championship Show is slowly crawling to a close at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada as the horsemanship classes are well under way. With big numbers in each class, beautiful weather, and an awesome venue, it’s hard not to love this show. Competitors of every level have kept the “World Show hype” feeling strong throughout every class. With the support of friends and family, everyone seems to be extremely positive of the event and is making plans on attending in future years to come.
Thursday started off with halter and showmanship, with some classes having well over a 100 entries. Due to the high amount of entries, the main arena was split up where the youth and amateur classes ran concurrently. Friday took off with speed events in the main arena continued by the hunter under saddle and equitation finals. Western rolled into town on Saturday for deep splits in the western pleasure, western riding, and trail. Crowning of the champions began as the sun went down, and the Vegas lights took over. Continuing today, we await the results of the finals in the reining and horsemanship which should end later this evening.
