Amateur Darcy Reeve Dominates Congress With Two Wins & Reserve

GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Darcy Reeve of Garden City, Kansas on her back-to-back wins on Friday at the Congress. Reeve and A Certain Vino took home the victory in the tough Amateur Western Pleasure Class with three firsts and a second and beat out over 70 head to win a bronze championship trophy, a trailer, and a Blue Ribbon Saddle. Reeve and Ima Petite Classic (Kramer) also won the Amateur Western Riding Friday night to complete her Friday sweep.

“Today has been a complete blur,” Darcy told GoHorseShow, right after her win in the Amateur Western Riding where she scored a 230. “Earlier today, I showed Kramer in the Amateur Trail and was Reserve, and, then, I had to turn around and show Vino in the pleasure, and then finally I rode Kramer tonight in the western riding. It was one of the best goes I have ever had on him. He was so responsive, soft, and just perfect.”

Darcy continues, “I’m finally able to sit and think about all I’ve accomplished today, and it has been a remarkable day, especially doing so well on two different horses.”

Looking back in the record books, Darcy and Vino are back-to-back champions in the Amateur Western Pleasure, and this duo were also winners of the 15-18 Youth Western Pleasure four years in a row, 2007-2010. So that means this team has won six straight Congress Championships in the western pleasure! As far as in the open classes, Vino and Karen Hornick won the Junior Pleasure in 2008, and have been the Senior Western Pleasure Champion the last four years. There is no question that, A Certain Vino, is the most dominant western pleasure horse in history.

“It is harder every year to come back and try to top the year before,” Darcy says. “But Vino never disappoints, and it is fun to try and keep him at the top of his game. I plan to keep on showing both horses. Everything seems to be going right, and I don’t feel like I need to change anything.”

Darcy’s sister, Kelley Reeve, also had a Congress win in the Three and Four Year-Old Trail with her horse, Zips Chocolate Impulse with Bruce Vickery aboard.

“It has been a great Congress for our entire family. I would just like to thank my parents and all my trainers for all their help and support,” Darcy says. “All my trainers know how to prepare my horses to peak at the right time, and I would not be where I am without them.”
