GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Parris Rice and Javah Mon (Willie) on their unanimous win in the Hunt Seat Equitation at the Youth World Show. This is the third time this long-time duo has been champions in this class.
“I have had Willie since he was three and now he is fourteen, so we know each other quite well,” Parris told GoHorseShow. “I think the fact we have been a team so long helped give us an advantage over the competition. We have definitely done our time in the practice arena.”
Parris Rice’s mother, Carolyn Rice, told us that she was thrilled with her daughter’s ride and was happy that she went out on top in her last class at the Youth World, since she will be turning amateur next year.
Rice says that Willie has a forever home and that she looks forward to continue showing him as an amateur competitor. “He is such a goofball, but he doesn’t like to get into trouble and is always a good boy so that is definitely good for me. We have grown up together so we have a special bond.”
Carolyn adds, “I think Parris also has an incredible work ethic and desire to succeed so she pushes herself really hard.”
The Baylor Equestrian team rider would like to thank her mother and her trainer, Robin Frid. “I have so much respect for Robin, and I am always thankful for his help and support.”
