Press Release by Tracy Bidwell, OQHA
The All American Quarter Horse Congress is expanding its awards
program in 2012. This year, all AQHA classes will be placed through 15;
in the past only the top 10 have been recognized. Exhibitors placing
11th-15th will receive a medallion and have the option to purchase a top
15 belt buckle from Montana Silversmiths, as well as a finalist jacket
from Schneiders Saddlery.
“With the volume of entries we have in each class, the OQHA Board of
Directors felt it was important to recognize more exhibitors for their
accomplishments,” said Dr. Scott Myers, OQHA Executive Director.
Additionally, at least 20 horses will be brought back to the finals in
each class, and will be recognized in the arena as finalists. Placings
will begin with recognizing the finalists, and then reading placings
15th through first. At the very end, only the Congress Champion will
remain in the arena.
In both trail and western riding classes, scores will be announced after each run.
The All American Quarter Horse Congress is the world’s largest single-breed show, with more than 17,000 entries annually. The event, scheduled for October 5-28, 2012, attracts 650,000 people to the Columbus, Ohio area, making it the state’s largest convention. The Quarter Horse Congress is hosted by the Ohio Quarter Horse Association, a state affiliate of the American Quarter Horse Association.
