GoHorseShow would like to congratulate Charley Thiel of Dublin, Ohio and Tophat And Tails on winning back-to-back World Championships in the Hunter Under Saddle. The brown gelding and Thiel had three firsts and two seconds in their repeat win.
Better known as Patrick, the gelding out of Nancy Baba and by Coats N Tails looked gorgeous with his ears up when he trotted in 12th in the finals.
“I was really excited that we started to the right first since that is his best way,” Charley told GoHorseShow. “It was one of my best rides. I wasn’t expecting to repeat because there are so many variables involved and it is so hard to do. I am so blessed and thankful.”
According to Thiel, Patrick, who got his name because he was born on St. Patrick’s Day, is really quirky and has the biggest personality.
“He may act like he will bite you, but then he will turn around and nudge me and start loving on me. He means a lot to us because we bought him from Vic and Libby Clark when he was a yearling,” Thiel says.
Charley’s trainer, Beckey Schooler, told GoHorseShow that she is really proud of this team. “Charley is a really hard worker and she did a great job handling the pressure to be able to be back-to-back champions.”
To celebrate, the whole barn is headed to Zio’s Italian restaurant for lunch! We congratulate her on a big win!
