Rodrock Candids From the Big A in Georgia

According to GQHYA Treasurer, Callie Whaley, the 2012 Big A Circuit was a horse show to remember. During The first three days of the Stars and Stripes portion, everyone experienced record high temperatures and quickly headed over to the comfort of the air-conditioned concierge lounge provided by GQHA. The entry numbers were impressive with 70+ in the Senior Trail Class as well as 51 entries in the 14-18 Youth Horsemanship!

“It was a great horse show, friendly exhibitors, lots of free food, and most importantly with the heat, they kept us stocked up with all the free ice cold water we could drink, located next to every show arena,” exhibitor Amy Brosch told GoHorseShow. “It was a lifesaver in the record heat. Great numbers and very deep competition in all the classes. Bringing home any points and awards at this show was quite an achievement!”

On Wednesday morning, Youth Advisor Debbie Lisabeth, Maggie Bellville, AQHYA President Mark Mowbray, and the GQHYA officers started really early by preparing for the always anticipated Dog Show and Painted Pony. It had a great turn out and so many families participated. On Wednesday night, everyone gathered to the covered arena to the exhibitors’ party. There was great food and even had a live band for entertainment. The GQHYA promoted the BIG A Hat/ T-Shirt sale at their table while others watched over the silent auction. A highly anticipated event at this years Big A was the live auction for the well known mini donkey, Sambo. GQHYA would like to thank the Forsyth family for making such a generous donation for Sambo and helping out the GQHYA! So glad to know he will be going to a good home!

“The Big A this year was a great show and had a phenomenal turn out,” Whaley says. “It will be greatly missed, but now it’s time to go home and start preparing for the Youth World!”
