GoHorseShow is sad to report the passing of Margaret “Margy” Haines of Morrison, Illinois. The memorial service will be Saturday, January the 21st in Morrison, Illinois at the Presbyterian Church at 10:30am. According to close friend Robin Merrill, she has asked to have her ashes scattered later in the spring when her pastures are green.
Over the years, Margy showed in the halter, and western pleasure and was one of the first people to compete in the pleasure driving. Margy and her mother, Alene, would travel around in their motor home to all the shows. They had horses with Tommy Manion, and Dave Page, but she showed mainly on her own.
“Margy was a great friend of the Quarter Horse Foundation and there is a beautiful reading room at the Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum which was funded by her named, The Margaret Haines Reading Room,” Merrill told GoHorseShow. “Margy had a wonderful laugh and was a great friend to many people in the horse industry. I think she would love her fellow horsemen to send donations to the AQHA Foundation in honor of her, instead of flowers. I know that is what our family will do.”
GoHorseShow would like to express our condolences to everyone who knew this special lady. Special thanks to Robin Merrill for sharing her thoughts about her friend.
