All-Around Champion HR Zip Me Sells to Abbey Sheftel Turner

Congratulations to amateur Abbey Sheftel Turner on the purchase of top APHA all-around champion, HR Zip Me. “Speck” was previously owned by Paige Stawicki and her mother, Beverly Bass of Argyle, Texas.

“He is a once-in-a-lifetime horse and one of the greatest paints ever produced,” Beverly Bass told GoHorseShow. Her daughter, Paige Stawicki, who won the APHA Youth High Point 14-18 in the nation in 2010 with Speck, adds, “I am blessed that he has a home for life. Abbey sold me my first horse, and I’m happy to know that she bought my last. I know he will live a happy life in her hands, spoiled as ever, and I know the two of them together will make a dynamic duo. Abbey deserves to be at the top, and I know Speck can get her there.”

Turner’s trainer, Laren Dubin of Arcadia, Florida says that it is a great story that Abbey sold Paige a walk-trot horse when she was eight years-old and now Abbey is buying her final horse from Paige. “The circle of friendship in the horse show world is amazing,” Dubin says.

Stawicki continues, “The sale was tough, and I couldn’t imagine him
being in the hands of anyone else, but I will rest peacefully at night
knowing that he is in her care. I wish them the best of luck in their
continued successful careers they’re bound to have together.”

Abbey Turner of Travelers Rest, South Carolina (pictured left) has been showing horses for nearly forty years and already has a great all-around partner named, Metallic Zippo that has earned over 2600 points.

“The only way I would consider buying a new horse is if he was taller and prettier than the horse I show now, and Speck fit the picture,” Abbey explains. “He brings it all to the table. It may be hard to follow Paige, but I will give it my best shot.”

Turner will be riding under the supervision of Blake Carney of Rome, Georgia and Laren Dubin. “I’m now one of those annoying people who will now have two trainers,” Turner says laughing. “But, it will be a lot easier since I can go to shows closer to home as well as some shows in Florida.”

Trainer Blake Carney is very excited about Abbey’s new purchase. “Speck is one of the best all-around horses in the industry right now,” he told GoHorseShow.com. “He is so special and has such a unique personality. He has the look, the movement, and the attitude to take Abbey anywhere she wants to go!”

Look out for this new team at all the major paint shows this year!
