Olivia Hoecker of Pine Meadow Quarter Horses is all about winning. Her farm located in Reddick, Florida stands some of the nicest stallions in the industry including Hotroddin Zippo, Mr Notibily Zippo, and My Favorite Zippo. Pine Meadow is totally committed to supporting strong breeding and promotional programs with their stallions who are nominated to most major futurities as well as the AQHA Incentive Fund and NSBA Breeders Trust.
“I got involved in the industry about 12 years ago,” Hoecker, the owner of Pine Meadow Quarter Horses told GoHorseShow. “It had always been a childhood dream of mine. We are slowly building up our breeding operation and have enjoyed being involved in the industry.”
Hoecker found out about Hotroddin Zippo from Amy Gumz and decided to purchase him as a breeding stallion. The 1992 AQHA chestnut stallion, Hotroddin Zippo, is a World and Congress Champion as well as a World and Congress Champion sire. He was the 1994 AQHA World Champion in Two Year-Old Snaffle Bit Western Pleasure, 1997 AQHA Congress Western Pleasure Maturity Champion, winning under all four judges, 1997 AQHA Congress Champion Junior Western Pleasure, 1997 Year End Champion NSBA Western Pleasure Maturity Horse, and the 1999 AQHA Congress Reserve Champion in Senior Western Pleasure. He is also the sire of top show horses such as: Congress Champion Sweet Movin Hotrod and AQHA World Champion, HRZ Make Mine Gold.
“I enjoy being a hands on owner, and he is a very laid back stud, and I can lead him in and out and he is great minded and has been siring some great minded babies as well,” Olivia says.
Another of her stallions is, Mr Notibily Zippo. He is a 1995 AQHA stallion who sired the 2001 Congress Champion, MNZ Capital Flare. He was also a talented western pleasure horse in his own right. In 2000, he was the Tom Powers Co-Champ Maturity Non Pro Western Pleasure and also placed Top 10 in the Congress Two Year-Old Futurity.
“He is a very pretty horse with great conformation and puts a great hock on a horse,” Olivia says. “He is also great minded and loves for me to rub him under his lip. Of course, everyone else says that isn’t a good idea but I do it anyway,” she says and laughs.
My Favorite Zippo is a son of Hotroddin Zippo and shows some of the same traits and disposition as his father. He has received his superior in the Western Pleasure. “Since his father is getting some age on him, we decided to keep him a stallion,” Olivia says. “He has a few yearlings on the ground that show a lot of promise.”
Recently, at the Congress, Hoecker had major win with her horse, Strutin On The Range. This three year-old roan stallion by Open Range won the Green Western Pleasure at the Congress with Jay Starnes aboard.
“We aren’t set in stone with our plans for him but Jay will probably show him in the Junior classes next year, and hopefully, he will become part of our breeding program in the near future,” Olivia says.
At the Congress, her futurity horses, MNZ Invitation, and new trainer Brandon Burr placed 8th in the Limited Three Year Old Western Pleasure Derby, and Josh Robertson also rode, Miss Hotroddin Pine to a 10th place finish in the class. Hoecker also purchased the highest selling horse at the Congress Sale–Hez Plum Poison who had just won the Congress Longe Line with owner Pete Mead. The 2010 bay stallion by Diesel Only and out of Quiet Impulse was purchased by Olivia for $49,500.
“I don’t have any futurity horses at the moment that would work for the Reichert or the Congress Masters Two Year-Old classes so I purchased him to hopefully be trained and shown in one of those big classes for next year,” she says. “He is definitely a pretty horse and has all the parts.”
According to breeding manager Dennis Haberstroh, the breeding fee for Hotroddin Zippo for 2012 is $2000; Mr Notiliby Zippo is $1500 and My Favorite Zippo is $1000 plus a $275.00 collection and shipment fee. There is also a $250 discount off the breeding fee if you book before February 1st, 2012.
