Frank Merrill Honored

AQHA Past President Frank Merrill is one of several honorees who will be inducted into the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Hall of Fame on Saturday, January 14, 2012, at the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City. The gala will begin with a reception at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.

In addition to Merrill, horsemen being honored are Jim Scarbrough, Darrell Bilke and Roy Browning. Stuart Ranch will also be honored. Horses being inducted include Bert, Trixie Blake and Royal Santana.

Lee Allan Smith, Oklahoma City civic leader and special friend of the American Quarter Horse industry, will receive the Bud Breeding Oklahoma Spirit Award, which honors those who exemplify the spirit of Oklahoma’s Western heritage and who have an acknowledged love of horses that has manifested itself by involvement in equine activities.

The Oklahoma Quarter Horse Hall of Fame was created by the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association in 2004 as a means of honoring people and horses who are or were significant in the growth and success of the Quarter Horse industry.
