Austin Gooding Reports from the APHA World Show

Find out what’s happening at the APHA World Show through GoHorseShow’s guest reporter Austin Gooding of Fennville, Michigan. Everyone has just moved in and the World Show has just gotten underway. Austin did such a good job reporting for us during the Paint Youth World that we asked him to report for us again at the Open and Amateur fall world show. Find out who won some of the classes, important news from the show, and any fun events that occurred through the eyes of Austin. It is rare for a young man to report in a female dominated sport, and we appreciate him breaking the gender barrier and giving us a different perspective.

Report #3, November 4, 2011–Yesterday was a big day for amateur halter and hunter under saddle exhibitors. The Classic Amateur Junior Hunter Under Saddle was won by Michelle Bauer and All That And More. He was raised by Bauer and Gooding Show Horses. “Butters” is out of one of Michelle’s old youth mares, Reddy For Josie, and by All Time Fancy. This made this win especially special for Michelle. In the halter, Robin Robinett added a third buckle to her collection when she won the Amateur Weanling Stallions showing Built Executive Tuff.

A new sponsor here at the world show is “eyeD”. This is an exciting new identification technology. They are providing demonstrations here at the world show, with their official launch in mid-November. “EyeD” is non-invasive, easy to use, and more accurate than tattoos. This technology uses the horse’s iris as the identification code which is 99.9% accurate. The digital photo of the iris is taken of each of the horse’s eyes using a special camera. These images are stored electronically in the eyeD processor with photos, pedigree, medical records, performance records and other information. Tomorrow, Saturday Nov. 5, at the APHA World Show is the “Breeders’ Trust Select Sale.” There will be Barrel Racing, Stake Race along with the equitations classes to finish out the day.
